I am a Senior Software Engineer at Cisco. Currently, I am working on Segment Routing (SR) for Cisco IOS-XE network operating system. SR is a new source-based routing technique that simplifies traffic engineering and management across network domains. I have also worked on Cisco Switch Integrated Security Features (SISF) which  provides the suite of first-hop security features, e.g. device-tracking, and Cisco Virtual Topology System (VTS) that is an overlay management and provisioning system for data center networks.

From October 2015 to June 2019, I was a Software Development Engineer at Nokia, in the R&D team of Network Services Platform (NSP). NSP is a carrier SDN platform that unifies service automation, network optimization and dynamic assurance for delivery of profitable, on-demand network services. 

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with the major of Telecommunications from Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2010. Afterwards, in 2011, I received my Master of Science degree, with distinction, in Mobile and Satellite Communications from University of Surrey, Guildford, England. Prof. Rahim Tafazolli was my supervisor in my M.Sc. studies. I worked as a researcher for one year in Institute for Communication Systems (Home of 5G Innovation Centre), University of Surrey. During this time, I was working with Dr. Ning Wang as my research supervisor. From September 2012, I have began my Ph.D. studies in Department of Systems and Computer EngineeringCarleton University, Ottawa, Canada. My Ph.D. thesis was about energy optimization for virtualized network environments. Prof. Changcheng Huang supervised my research. I have completed my Ph.D. studies in three years, in October 2015.

  • November 2016: My paper titled "GreenMap: Green Mapping of MapReduce-based Virtual Networks onto a Data Center Network and Managing Incast Queueing Delay" has been accepted for publication in Elsevier Computer Networks Journal.
  • April 2016: My paper titled "EnergyMap: Energy-Efficient Embedding of MapReduce-based Virtual Networks and Controlling Incast Queueing Delay" has been accepted for 8th IEEE International Conference on Communication Software and Networks (ICCSN 2016) in Beijing, China.
  • January 2016: Nokia bought Alcatel-Lucent. So, I am an employee of Nokia from now on.
  • December 2015: I have presented my paper in IEEE GLOBECOM 2015, San Diego, USA.
  • November 2015: My paper titled "EnergyMap: Energy-Efficient Embedding of MapReduce-based Virtual Networks and Controlling Incast Queueing Delay" has been accepted for IEEE/IFIP Network Operations and Management Symposium 2016 (NOMS 2016)  in Istanbul, Turkey.
  • October 2015: I have started working as a Network Development Designer in Alcatel-Lucent, Canada.
  • October 2015: I have successfully defended my Ph.D. thesis, and became a Doctor :). 
  • September 2015: My paper titled "Energy-Aware Node and Link Reconfiguration for Virtualized Network Environments" has been accepted for Elsevier Computer Networks Journal, Special Issue on Cloud Networking and Communications II.
